Getting Closer

After today, I'll have six days left in my career as a teacher. This year seemed endless for so many reasons, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

I'm working to finish three of these -- for three of my students who love to fish. I'll have to model one for you before I give them away. They look pretty funny when worn as a hat.

The closing on our old house went very smoothly on Tuesday. The title company was next door to the furniture store where we ordered a sectional. We ordered it in February and they predicted it would arrive by the end of June -- and that may work out. They checked for us, and our sectional is in a shipping container in the United States. They told us that we are lucky because people ordering now will have to wait seven months or more for their furniture.

Now we can really settle into our new house.

This week we are enjoying our peony bush. Peony's are among my favorite flowers. I'm glad one came with the house because these bushes are pricey!

  3. Getting so close! I taught my last class yesterday and now have master's projects to finish up, and I'm 'on the clock' until the end of June technically but after next Tuesday it's pretty much home free. I've been finishing up school while packing up the house and it's a lot but it's getting done! Congratulations to you! I've had a few surprise gatherings that have been nice.

  4. Hang in there. Retirement is coming!!! Wishing you all the best. I hope you enjoy your retirement as much as Steve enjoys his. He doesn't miss work at all! LOL

The peony is very pretty. We have a whole front area filled with white peonies.

  5. Exciting events in your near future!!! The hats are adorable! We ordered new furniture in March and I've just received notice that it will be here Monday--yay! You must be so antsy for the last day of school and then you will cry with joy and sorrow...we are women. The peony is a wonderful welcome to the yard flower for you--enjoy.

  6. I remember counting those last days down. It was such an odd feeling on that very last day. I'll never forget driving home after packing up all my stuff. It was like I was in a dream. I honestly didn't know how to feel. It was all so overwhelming.
