My husband and I woke up to a great text this morning: All the conditions have been removed from the offer on our house and we are closing on June 1! It will be nice to own only one house.
Weird news: Threats of a shooting at my high school have been posted on Snapchat. Really? As if this school hasn't been hard enough! The worst thing is that Snapchat doesn't seem to know who posted the threatening posts. We definitely need to regulate social media.
And finally .... knitting!
I finished the first Petty Harbour sock. I was worried about running out of yarn, so I only did a 5-inch leg. Big mistake! I didn't get to the final color. Oh well. I'm not redoing the sock!I am a huge fan of Casapinka. She writes amazing patterns, and I love ponchos. So how could I resist casting on Noncho? The red and gray yarns are from my stash, but I honestly didn't have a third color. Local dyer and store Knit Circus had just reopened, so that gorgeous hand-paint is from there. We much support every LYS, right?
I have 19 more school days before retirement. It still feels like a long time. But I will get there!

I love Knit Circus! I know what you mean--it feels like a long time. My husband keeps reminding me I have only 7 classes left (over 3.5 weeks).
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the house stuff - that's great. The weird news is also scary news...be safe...you only have a (very) short time till retirement. I continually think of it (retirement) and then think how easy I have it that I really should just stick it out for a bit longer. Time will tell....Have a wonderful weekend!!
ReplyDeleteGreat news on the sale of your house! I just watched a very sobering documentary about social media. It’s on Netflix — The Social Dilemma. I highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteYour closing on your old house is the same as ours on our new!
ReplyDeleteLovely sock. Hopefully the threat on the school is just a sick prank.
Congrats!!! That must be a relief. We've had two houses on our street go up for sale this week and they were sold the same day for more than they asked for. Crazy.
ReplyDeleteThe sock and the poncho are such happy colors. They look like fun knits.
Sorry to hear about the shooting threat. One of the worst days I had at school was the day we got a bomb threat. We couldn't even get our purses to get our car keys. We sat in a park all day with no food or water until the parents came and took everyone home. I don't remember if they caught the so and so who called it in but I know I'd like to have gotten my hands on him/her.
That is so scary, school shootings are nothing to joke about if that is what they were doing. Great news about the house. Stay safe my friend.
ReplyDeleteThat is greatness about the house- at last!
ReplyDelete19 days sounds amazing - I keep fantasising about what I could do to bring retirement forward!
I love social media as much as I hate it - it has certainly become a beast that I wish someone could tame.
gorgeous knitting and hurray for selling a HOUSE! That is awesome. I love the knits and I agree that snapchat should know who sent the threat.
ReplyDeleteYay for the final sale of the house! What a weight off your mind! Retirement will be the next great hurdle. Hope the school situation is just blown out of proportion.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your retirement and the house sale! You will love retirement when each day is yours to do with whatever you wish. Perhaps now that COVID restrictions are easing up, volunteering will be an option, and travel, too. Hope that school situation was resolved quickly without anyone being hurt.
ReplyDeleteI hope the now-less-than-19-days just fly by. (It always seems that the closer you get to leaving a job, the more time slogs by . . . ) And congratulations on the house front! I have a feeling you're REALLY going to enjoy this summer. XO
ReplyDeleteYes of course we must support the LYS! Hooray for the new about the house sale. Whew. What a wonderful summer you will have.
