Madison called a snow day -- even for virtual instruction -- and I could not be happier. I had insomnia last night, so the timing is perfect.
And what better than a snowy day to think about blankets? I finished my Habitation Throw. Mine is quite a bit larger than the pattern calls for. I just played it by ear. Some of the color transitions are better than others. I think I prefer more of a fade technique than these sudden changes. But it's very homey and comforting.I've also been working on a larger blanket that uses worsted weight. I had an odd assortment of Julia yarn and Cascade Quattro, both discontinued, which is a shame. They are absolutely lovely yarns and they play quite well together. I'm using a variety of grays to tie it all together and hoping it works.I think I'm going to let this one get quite large. It also has a border, so it will take me a while to finish.
I would love to spend the whole day knitting by the window, but I need to declutter. We are looking at a house tomorrow and it looks promising online. Whenever there is a house on the horizon I panic and start decluttering. Moving is a lot to take on right now as I try to adapt to my new diagnoses, but it needs to be done. It's never fun, but we'll be happy when it's behind us.

What a beautiful, snow scene. I always enjoyed Snow Days when I was working. Your blankets are lovely. I hope the house you are considering offers everything you desire.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm happy you had a snow day but why? Doesn't that add on to the end of the school year? Anyway--good luck with the house hunt!
ReplyDeletePretty snow day! I had not realized you were looking for a house -= best of luck. I think that would be very stressful for me. Sending all the good vibes to you.

ReplyDeleteDeb, I like the distance color changes, for what my two cents is worth!!!
ReplyDeleteI've been cleaning out stuff as IF we are moving and we are not. Hahaha. Realizing the kids do not want most of what is stored here. Im selling LP s that were OURS. I gave 75 away to the library. Stay warm .
I love the color changes in that very warm looking blanket. Stay safe Deb, I am sending you loads of positive thoughts.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to have a snow day, wasn't it? I spent mine writing a pattern and a blog post.
ReplyDeleteI like your Habitation blanket - the stripes are very pleasing. The blanket squares are looking very cozy already!
Best wishes for the house hunting.
Nice you had a snow day! It's always special when you get that time off that you didn't expect. Hope you enjoyed the day! Good luck with the house hunting. I agree, moving is a big job and good to start decluttering now. I moved last year and had so much to go through. Take care :)
ReplyDeleteSnow days are always such a gift. Your blankets look warm and toasty. I keep chugging along with my Habitation Throw - the rows are getting long but I too want mine a little bigger than suggested in the pattern. So your FO is encouraging to me.
