Before I go into knitting I have to say that it is 7:30 a.m. here and as dark as night. Heavy storms are predicted. We had a number of tornadoes touch down about 36 hours ago, some just a few miles from our house. Climate change: What's not to like? I'm wondering if I should build a cellar to protect my stash and favorite knitted items.
In the meantime, I'm working on this
This sock has a 2x2 rib on the cuff so it will match with the sock on the right in this photo:
Some of you may remember that it wasn't until I finished this "pair" that I noticed that the cuffs did not match. I am not a knitting perfectionist, but this was too much of a flaw for me So I ordered another skein of the yarn and am working away at sock number 3, which will be followed by 2 number 4.
I love Opal yarn. I love these colors, but I am getting a little tired of them!
Go on over to Tami Amis' blog to see what everyone else is working on.

Should Have Been An FO
Can you see why this isn't the FO I was expecting?
I bet you spotted the problem immediately: I used a 1-by-1 ribbing for the cuff on on one sock and 2-by-2 ribbing on the other.
Yes, I feel stupid.
These are intended as a gift, but I can't see presenting them as a pair. I could keep them for myself, but they aren't my colors. The only satisfactory solution I could come up with is to buy a second skein of the yarn and knit another mis-matched pair.
Though these aren't colors I wear, I do like them -- and that's a good thing since I'll be spending quite a bit more time with them!

Mistake Monday
Over all, my Garland Shawl is coming along beautifully.
However, somehow, in the middle of a super-easy garter stitch, I made a big mistake. I thought about frogging and reknitting, but I just couldn't bring myself to do that. Instead, I decided it was time for me to learn how to knit to the point of the problem and fix it with a crochet hook.
Clearly, I don't understand this procedure:
If this were a gift, I would have ripped back and reknit. But I know that I want to keep this and I decided I could live with this sloppy fix.
Does anyone else choose to live with visible errors?
