A Winner and a UFO

Let's get to the exciting part first: who won the Think Summer Give-Away? The random number generator (also known as my dear daughter) chose number 7, which would be Gracie Saylor! Congratulations! If you can send your address to deborah.kades@gmail.com, I'll get your package into the mail!

Instead of indulging myself in casting on yesterday, I pulled this out of my closet:
It's a Brickless scarf that I started last year with Miss Babs Yowsa. Isn't the color gorgeous?  I don't know why I dropped the ball on this, so to speak. It is a great pattern -- and a useful one for Wisconsin weather!

Miss Babbs doesn't call this yarn Yowsa for nothing. In addition to being beautiful, it comes with an enormous yardage: 560 yards of worsted weight. Has anyone make a Brickless out of Yowza? If so, did you use the entire skein? I'm afraid I could end up with a scarf that is too long -- if there is such a thing.

It's back to school on Wednesday, so I'm savoring these last few days!

Think Summer Give-Away

I wouldn't want any of my blog friends to fall into the post-holiday blues, so I've decided to do a giveaway with summer in mind.

To me, summer means Door County, which is known for its cherries. When I saw this pink and green yarn, I knew what kind of give-away I wanted to do.
I've assembled some Door County treats and soap -- and who knows how many other little goodies may find their way into this package?
To be in the drawing, just leave a comment on this post. I'll hold it open until 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017 (!), and then pick a winner.

Fall Giveaway

Seeing as I've done quite a bit of stash enhancement lately, it feels like the right time to lighten up that same stash, so I've put together a fall sock "kit." First up, some autumnal sock yarn, Malabrigo in Terracota.

And I cannot wait to start my own pair of socks using this pattern:
The pattern is called Lynn and designed by Adrienne Ku. I saw a completed sock at Vogue Knitting Live Chicago a few weeks ago and just fell in love with it. I actually bought two of the patterns so I could use one for this giveaway. It's a very elegant pattern and quite dramatic -- but without any weird architecture! There are only a few projects (so far!) on Ravelry so you can see a little more about this pattern here.

Adrienne Ku of Mushroom Knits designed the very popular Simple Skyp Socks, which have been knit by 3,577 people on Ravelry so far, so I'm sure that this will be a well-written pattern.

To participate in the give-away, just leave a comment on this post by 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, and I'll use some method of random selection to pick a winner. Do give me some way to contact you: email, Rav name, etc. If I already read your blog, I know where to find you!

Well, it's Sunday night. The weekend sure went fast. We went out to dinner with my parents; visited Keith's parents; and saw the movie Birdman, which is interesting but kind of odd. Because I'm going to be in a holiday show at the end of November, I spent a lot of time making jewelry, both by myself and with friends, which is MUCH more fun!

I hope you had a great weekend.

Same Girl, New Home

Welcome to my new home!

I think this one's going to work. I've struggled for the last few years to maintain one blog for knitting and a second one for my polymer clay beads. Maybe I'm just lazy, but I can't do two. Besides, I've been experimenting with a number of other artistic pursuits and I didn't have a good place to share about them.

I do promise to keep knitting as a main attraction. I've found such a wonderful community of knitters, and I am looking forward to catching up with those friends.

So, where was I? My beloved Uncle Sheldon died; my father fell and managed to do some serious damage to both knees; and work has been unusually demanding. It didn't help that I came down with one of those killer colds shortly after school started. The fact that I wasn't happy about having two blogs slowed my blogging momentum, too.

My current project is featured in the photo. Can anyone guess what viral pattern it is? There's a stash-busting (for me) prize waiting to go into the mail!
