My trip to California was great. How can it not be? We drove up to Mendocino, which is just gorgeous. I could listen to the surf hit the rocks all day. (Thinking of you, Kim!)
We stayed in a very vintage cottage. It was adorable, but we were afraid to use the stove, which had no pilot light. We just used the microwave and ate out.The best part was hanging out with Joni.
We both enjoyed working on the embroidery kits I made up for us.
We were not amused by the antisemitic pamphlets that were placed at homes in Berkeley and six other cities. Scary stuff.
Sadly, bad news dominates, doesn't it? You may remember that I went to Ukraine a few years ago when my daughter was a bridesmaid at a wedding outside Lviv. My heart bleeds for the country and the wonderful Ukranians I know.

Glad it was a great trip. I'm glad you liked Mendo and you thought of me when you heard the ocean! Did you make it up to Fort Bragg? That's nice too.
ReplyDeleteWe went kayaking through sea caves and it was amazing.
That stove! I was just researching slide in type stoves to replace my awful one and saw one that looked very much like that one. Of course it was way out of my price range. That vintage look is very in again-if you've got the money to spend on it.
ReplyDeleteI've got a dear friend in Latvia that is beside himself with worry. They lived under Russian occupation for many years and it was horrific. I can't imagine how it must feel to see that army marching towards you when no one in the world has the will to stop them.
Oh, that stove! I would have loved to had tried it. Your time in Cali looks like it was great for you and Joni. As for that flyer, I just do not understand people's bigotry towards people who do not look, worship, or believe like they do. Have we not learned from our past? So upsetting. Glad you arrived home safely.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so glad you had a wonderful trip to visit your friend! That pamphlet is disgusting, sorry for the ignorance that still abounds. Yes, the Ukraine does dominate our prayers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful trip! (I'm sorry about that awful flyer. What is WRONG with people???) I hope you are feeling invigorated and energized after your trip. XO
ReplyDeleteSorry your trip was marred by bigotry and hate. That pamphlet us just awful and scary at the same time. As others have said, what is wrong with people? There is so much hate in the world it is just terrifying. The cottage sounds adorable and I love the picture of the kitchen. What a stove!! Glad you had such a nice time with your friend.
ReplyDeleteI remember your trip. I am glad you had a great visit and I would not have used the stove either :)
ReplyDeleteThe cottage sounds adorable, as is the photo of the cooker. Glad you had a good time but how dreadful to read tht pamphlet. Why can't everyone just love ?
ReplyDeleteI've just restarted my blog at emeraldcottage.blogspot.co.uk , would be lovely to see you over there :)

I am glad you were able to visit your friend. I love the little embroidery kits. That pamphlet is so wrong and sad.
