Sunday Start and Finish

So, here we are in the middle of winter -- wait! It's April 8! How can the high temps be in the 30's? Not fair! However, I suppose it is good weather for hat knitting. It only took me four days to knit a Crazy Color Hat:

I've started a second one, only I'm designing the colorwork section just for fun. The colored yarn is Ewetopia DK, and it is divine. The gray is MadTosh Charcoal.

And I cast on the second sock in the Secret Sock Society from Helen Stewart. It was 2 inches long when I realized I had made far too many mistakes, so this is how it looks now:
This pattern has lots of cables, which is both great and scary. Great because I need to get better at them and scary because (as rediscovered today) I am terrible at doing them correctly.

Has anyone else noticed that weekdays are longer than Saturday and Sunday?

  1. That is a wonderful hat; it reminds me of a delightfully colored Easter egg! And yes, we've got that same unfortunate problem with weekends flying by and weekdays dragging. We really need to find a fix for this! :-)

  2. All days seem to go by very fast for us. Love that hat! Is your sock the Magnolia one? I think I told you the other day that I finally caved and bought the book with Winter Rose. Now I'm two socks behind..... Have a good week!

  4. Oh, that hat! Just what I needed. If this weather doesn't warm up I am knitting myself a cocoon and crawling in.

  6. Beautiful hat that would bring a bit of sunshine to the gloomiest of days.

  7. Now that I’m semi-retired the days are all pretty much the same... which is pretty great.

The hat is very cute, but I hear you about the never-ending winter. We’ve had light flurries here throughout the day. Maybe we’ll skip straight ahead to summer soon?

  8. I LOVE your hat! It is so colorful and really nicely done. It makes me think back to your colorful cowl you finished awhile ago and inspires me to try out knitting more colorful pieces. The sock project sounds tricky but fun hope you enjoy it!

  9. Gorgeous, cheerful hat! Just the thing for April snow, I agree. Looooong winter. Here's hoping for sunshine, blue skies, and spring flowers. The crocuses, snowdrops, and scylla were beginning to bloom last week while I was in Chicago for work, and we're nearly there in MI now, too.
