When the Going Gets Tough, Knit

It's been more than a week since I blogged, though I have tried to read many of your posts. I've hit another bump on the health road and am doing a treatment that makes me super tired. I've been reaching for my easiest projects as a result, and lately that means my Winter Rose socks. They are practically knitting themselves.
I've only done one sketch this month: this drawing of our Hoosier Cabinet. Keith  bought it long before he met me, but I really like it.
These have been lazy winter days. My priority is getting through work. Then I come home and collapse in the window seat. Kind of like a cat.
I can't sign off without saying something about the latest school shooting. I am so heartened by the efforts coming from the Florida teens. Maybe they can do what adults have been unable to do -- sensible gun laws! I will never understand why anyone thinks their right to own a weapon outweighs a child's right to be alive.
If you haven't listened to Emma Gonzalez's speech, you must! You can find it here. She gives me hope for the future!

  1. Hope you are feeling better soon!

The kids will make a lot of noise which will be ignored. Face it, if shooting up an elementary school didn't cause change, this won't either. Soon those 17 will fall into oblivion, the murderer will spend his life in a mental institution and we will wait for the next attack.

We live in a soul-less society unfortunately and pretty soon there will be a bigger story to push this one to the dark past.

  2. I love that they teens are becoming vocal and staging protests. Politicians would be wise to listen to the teens and take them VERY seriously because when they vote in mass, their voices will be strong.

I hope your health improves and that you feel better soon. ❤️ your gorgeous socks.

  8. Hope you feel better soon. I love the socks you have been working on, and a fun and quick knitting project is perfect. It is horrible what happened in Florida and I hope that future generations do promote change.

Our country is obviously such a mess right now. Those kids do bring me hope though.

Sometimes acting like a cat is the best way to behave.

  12. Gorgeous socks! Hope this finds you feeling way better. And yes, hurrah for those teens; there's hope for our country. We have Winter/Lenten Roses blooming right now in our yard despite the cold and snow. (That's what's in my header on my blog at the moment.)

  13. I am so far behind in reading, I hope you are feeling much better and have more energy. At least it is the weekend and I hope you can catch up on your rest. I am so proud of the students in Florida, I wish the rest of the country would join in. Can you imagine what would happen if every high school had a walk out or went to their state capitol?

  14. Sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly. I hope things look up soon. The orange of those socks is such a happy shade; hopefully they're helping to boost your mood.

As a Canadian, I am mystified by the arguments against gun control. Comparing the stats from Canada to the US should make the case in favour of gun control crystal clear, shouldn't it? And honestly, we'd have even fewer guns here in Canada and less gun violence if it weren't so easy to obtain guns in the US and sneak them over the border. Hopefully people feel strongly enough to get out and vote!

  16. I am so behind in reading and commenting. Hope this finds you feeling a whole lot better! I love your winter rose sock, and every time I see our Lenten rose think of you and your sock project. That pattern is pretty but sure looks complicated.
