Another Tragedy: Not Caused by an Immigrant

In 1986 and '87, I lived in Annapolis with my first husband. He was the medical reporter for the Annapolis Capital, and I was the news editor for the Maryland Gazette. These were good years with great people. All of our friends left the papers years ago, but tonight my heart is heavy nonetheless.

Is President Trump paying attention?

The Annapolis shooter is white -- as were the shooters at Columbine, Sandy Hook, Las Vegas. etcetera.

Can we please pay attention to the real problem: dissatisfied white men and guns?

Please?

  1. We can narrow the real problem down to one word ---- Guns. There are just too damn many of them.

Is Trump paying attention -----No. Does he care? No. It doesn't affect his life. The Trump-sters will continue to blindly follow his rhetoric of hate and the killings will go on.

Sad .... but unfortunately, probably true.

I have never in my life been so disgusted by any political administration. (And prior to 2008, I was a life-long republican.)

  2. Every day I think it can't get worse, but I does. I really fear for our country, but I want to believe that there ARE more good people than bad. Praying (and working)for change.

  3. Scary isn't it? My son worked at the Navy Yard at the time of that shooting, my daughter lived one block away from the Columbia Mall shooter and I was just having lunch near this shooting. I don't even have words anymore.

  4. People are bad...not inanimate objects. People do wicked things and they are becoming more wicked when there are no reasons not to be--Our nation's moral fibers are unraveling, that is for sure.

  6. What Dee said (except I will admit that I was never a Republican).

The other day I was thinking that one good thing about summer is that there wouldn't be school shootings, since most people are out of school over these months. So much for that.

And Annapolis is such a lovely tight-knit town. I'm sure they are reeling even more than we are.

  7. Just so horrible. It does get worse and worse. It just doesn't seem real any more...but it is which is so frightening.

  8. Wow! That surely cuts close to home. These are definitely scary times that make me afraid for my children and grand children, and everyone else in our nation. Great post, Deb; i agree totally.

  10. I am in Northern Va... I sat here yesterday and watched my tv with horror and sadness.... The first thing out of my mouth when I saw the shooter was still alive was...he must have been white. Horrible of me I'm sure - but...still... my second thought was - see what you have wrought Trump! And then I see people on FB saying oh no, don't put this on him. Sorry...but I am...
